I'm Patrick Adkins. I was born and raised right here in Wicomico County.
I’m NOT a career politician.
I’m a husband, a father of three girls, and a small business owner who’s spent the last 15+ years turning wrenches and building a life for my family in Mardela Springs.
I know what it’s like to work long days, balance a budget, and do your best to provide for your family.
And I know this:
Government isn’t working the way it should.
Too many promises.Too little action.
Too many decisions made without the people they affect.
Family is Everything
Everything I believe in comes back to faith, family, and hard work.
I was raised by parents who showed me what it means to provide, to sacrifice, and to do things the right way. I still carry those lessons with me today. From the time I spent learning alongside my dad to the life I’ve built with my wife Rene and our three daughters.

Why I'm Running
Because somewhere along the way, government stopped working for the people and started working around them.
In District 2, we’re not asking for anything special.

We just want common sense, accountability, and someone who actually listens.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers. But I do know how to solve problems:
-
You show up
-
You listen
-
You work
-
And you don’t quit until it’s done
That’s how I’ve lived my life.
That’s how I’ll serve.
What I Believe
Government should serve the people — not control them.
Tax dollars should be respected, not wasted.
Communities should have a voice, not be ignored.
Small businesses should be supported, not buried in red tape.
Law enforcement and first responders should be backed, not second-guessed.
We should focus more on what unites us than divides us.

District 2 is Home
From Mardela Springs to Sharptown, Quantico to Nanticoke, and parts of Fruitland…

This is small-town America.
It’s farmers, watermen, small business owners, retirees, and families just trying to do right by their kids.
It’s neighbors who still wave. People who still help each other. Communities that deserve a voice.
I’m one of you.
Priorities That Matter
Protect Our Future By Securing External Revenue
Before we cut services or raise taxes, we should be doing everything possible to bring new money into our county.

I will work to create a County Grant Task Force. A small, focused team dedicated to aggressively pursuing federal and private funding opportunities. That means partnering with UMES and Salisbury University, working with private foundations, and going after funding for infrastructure, rural development, and public safety.

Before we take from our residents, let’s go find the money.
Cut Waste. Demand Accountability
Taxpayers deserve to know exactly where their money is going and whether it’s working.
I will push to create a public spending dashboard, giving residents a clear, easy-to-understand view of how county funds are being used. We’ll implement quarterly performance audits, not just once a year, and establish a Sunset Review policy. Meaning every program must justify its existence every 3–5 years.
If it’s not working, it shouldn’t be funded.
Increase Community Oversight
Government works best when it answers to the people. Not the other way around.

I will work to establish Citizen Oversight Committees, made up of rotating, diverse members of our community, along with monthly Open Government Nights where residents can ask questions directly to leadership. We’ll also implement an anonymous reporting system for waste or misconduct.
The people should always have a seat at the table.
Supporting Law Enforcement Without Overreach
We need strong, trusted policing and that starts with support and balance.

I will advocate for competitive pay and retention bonuses, expand community policing programs, and invest in mental health response teams to reduce the burden on officers. At the same time, I will stand against unnecessary political interference that makes their jobs harder.

We can back the badge and back the community.
Incentives for County Employees
Our county employees are the backbone of local government, and we need to treat them that way.

I will support longevity bonuses at key milestones, explore housing assistance and down payment programs, and create clear career pathways for advancement.
If we want great people to stay, we need to invest in them.
Support Small Businesses
Small businesses aren’t just part of our economy. They are our economy.
I will push to cut unnecessary red tape, implement fast-track permitting (48–72 hours for small projects), and launch a “Local First” initiative that prioritizes local vendors. I also support creating a small business grant and loan fund to help entrepreneurs grow.
Less paperwork. More opportunity.
Fully Backing Our Injured First Responders
When first responders are injured in the line of duty, they shouldn’t have to worry about what comes next.

I will work to establish a First Responder Recovery Fund Guarantee, helping cover medical gaps, provide family support, and partner with nonprofits for recovery and transition services.

They had our back. Now we have theirs.
Incentives for Volunteer First Responders
Volunteer first responders are essential — and right now, recruitment and retention are real challenges.

I will support expanded property tax credits, tuition assistance and scholarships, and explore a length-of-service pension-style program.

Service to your community should come with real support.
Get Government Out Of The Way
Government should make life easier. Not harder.

I will require public input before major regulations, establish a citizen and business-led review board, and work to eliminate outdated or redundant rules.

Less control from government. More control for the people.
Promote Unity
We don’t have to agree on everything to move forward together.

I believe in focusing on what we share: strong families, safe communities, and real opportunity. When we start there, progress follows.

We have more in common than we’re often told and it’s time we lead with that.
